Get Involved Barbara Bridgwater Community Youth Champion The opportunity for bringing our community together to create the best possible foundation for our young people is the most strategic action we can make to ensure the success of our youth, our community, and our future. Everyone can be involved, regardless of age, gender, background, or ethnicity. Seeing people from all walks of life: education, business, youth programs, civic organizations, faith-based organizations, homemakers, retirees, and others, is an exciting, energizing experience. These individuals are interested in the welfare of Floyd County’s youth. Over and over again individuals tell me that they have become more conscious of the young people in their lives and how surprised they were to realize how much they were overlooking or ignoring young people in everyday situations. Now they take the time to simply smile and say hello when they encounter young people they don't know. With youth they are acquainted with, they are engaging in conversations and activities. It’s an incredible experience to watch community members with a shared vision come together to exchange ideas and begin using the 40 Developmental Assets as a common language that bridges all youth activities. Indeed, we are in the process of bringing our vision to reality: Creating a community where youth are valued, investments are made in their well-being, and all youth have the opportunity to succeed. If you wish to obtain additional information about Youth Count, please contact me at 812-923-1160 or via email at info@youthcount.com. Make this a great day as you intentionally and consistently continue to build and strengthen relationships with the young people in your life. Best Wishes, Barbara Bridgwater
